Blind Hole Bore Gages

Blind hole bore gages measure the size of holes with no access to the inside. They typically have two parts: a measuring plug and a measuring cylinder. The measuring plug goes into the hole, and the cylinder slides over it. Measure the outside of the cylinder to determine the diameter of the hole.

Blind hole bore gages measure holes in components assembled together, such as in an engine or transmission. The pros of using these bore gages are ease of use and little training required to use them correctly. They are also inexpensive compared with other methods for measuring bore diameters.
