Point Micrometers

Point micrometers measure the diameter of a hole or shaft. Their most common use is to measure the diameters of bearings, shafts, and other similar parts.

Point micrometers have several advantages over other types of micrometers. They are lightweight, portable, and easy to use. Their high accuracy means they are useful for precision measurements over long periods of time without error. This is extremely helpful when measuring large components that take a long time to assemble or disassemble.

Point micrometers also offer several different types of measurement capabilities: inside measurement, outside measurement, depth measurement, and step measurement.

While you can use them for many different applications, they’re best for checking machined or casted parts. They work best when measuring objects that are round in nature because they’re designed to measure cylindrical surfaces like holes or shafts.
