Rules, Straight Edges & Protractors
Rules, straight edges, and protractors are three types of tools that measure angles.
A rule is a flat piece of metal or wood with marked measurements in intervals of 1/8th of an inch. Rules are useful for measuring short distances. Hold them against the edge of a table or other surface to measure the distance between two points.
Straight edges are any tool with a straight line going down its length. They come in many sizes and many materials. Straight edges can be rulers, but they’re also useful for drawing straight lines when you don’t have access to a ruler or other drawing utensils.
Protractors measure angles. They come in many different styles and sizes but have one main feature. A protractor scale with measurements based on the angle the protractor is pointing.
