Thickness Gages

Thickness gages measure the thickness of objects. They can measure the thickness of metal, plastic, and other materials.

They consist of a measuring probe that moves across the surface of an object and a display that shows the thickness value of the measured object. The probe typically consists of two pins pressed against the measured surface, each measuring a different point on the object’s profile. Thickness gages can use many types of technology to determine an object’s profile, including contact probes, capacitive probes, ultrasonic probes, and laser interferometry systems.

Their primary benefit is their accuracy level: they can provide measurements within +/-0.001″ depending on the detail you need. Additionally, thickness gages are relatively easy to use. You move them across the surface you want to measure and receive an instant readout on your display screen.
